3 WAYS TO BE PRODUCTIVE IN THIS LOCKDOWN

3 WAYS TO BE PRODUCTIVE IN THIS LOCKDOWN

The Darwin's Finch

We've just crossed 21 days of Lockdown due to Coronavirus Pandemic. Its core meaning differs from people to people, from you and me but the truth is that we've got something more than wonderful. For us, it's a one in a lifetime reward that we shouldn't just pass on without doing anything. In this #TECHBLOG, we're going to get some ideas for how to do creative things in this period. First of all, I would like to mention, its once in a century, so you should never miss this opportunity to improve yourself.

READ, LEARN & GROW

The best thing you can do to improve yourself is to read, learn and grow. This is the era of the internet, you've access to almost everything in this world. The way to get improved by 10% is just a click away in your mobile or PC.

And of course, it's my favorite of the whole blog because I've been using these apps since months. This lockdown is the best time to read books, learn new things, and finally grow up.

First of all, I'm not going to recommend you to read complete books, instead read book summaries from renowned sites that are almost equals to reading the complete book in terms of gaining all the important excerpts. But you've to admit it that there's no way that can replace reading a complete book - its always the best option if you have time to do so.

I would recommend a few apps that give free subscriptions in the form of free trial.

i) BLINKIST -

It has been the best app in the market since more than 2 years. Blinkist offers over 3,000 book summaries, and there are more coming on every day. They offer a range of options on how to read. With a desktop version and a phone app.You can also read on your Kindle, or listen to the audio version of their summaries.

You can sign up using any email id because it doesn't verify your email id and you'll get a free trial of 7 days*. After the trial ends, you can sign up using another id (use this format - myname@gmail.com/myname1@gmail.com/myname2@gmail.com/myname3@gmail.com .....) ; you don't have to use any authenticate id for this.

You'll definitely fall in love with this app.

ii) INSTAREAD -

“Instaread” has always been a top-notch rival of Blinkist. So, if you are into nonfiction books, you may already be familiar with it. The book summaries app has a good roster of over 800 titles that provide quick highlights of bestsellers and famous books. Apart from offering professionally written titles, it also provides The New York Times Magazine articles which you would like to read to boost your knowledge.
Plus, the app also offers originals on important topics and well-known people. So, if Blinkist doesn’t offer you unique content to satiate your reading hunger, it could be a more suitable option for you. To ensure you don’t forget to check out a special article or book, it allows you to track your completion rates as well. Moreover, you can even download your favorites to listen to them during a long trip or free time. Talking about price, Instaread offers a free trial of 7 days* and its basic variant starts at $4.99.

Open Instaread

*Here comes the trick to use these apps free for lifetime (until they change any format in their apps).
When you're subscribing to Blinkist or Instaread for the free trial of 7 days, it will ask you to enter your card details to proceed the subscription.
Wait wait, I'll never recommend you to enter your own card details there.

Just go on to the site given below to open Bin list. (A Bin is the first 5 or 6 digits of a card number).
Open Bin List
You can also search in google for 'credit card bins' to get the bin. It will be like 377750, 400015...etc.
Copy any of the bin from that site or from google and now open the link below to enter Namsogen (Namso gen is a tool that generates sample credit cards using any BIN).
Open Namsogen
Paste the BIN you've copied in the BIN box in Namsogen. Then click generate card and you'll get 10 sample cards in the box right over there.

Copy any card number, paste it there in the subscription box in Blinkist/ Instaread; then similarly add the expiry date and CVV given there in the box in this format : 377750111548348|07|2023|0863.

Great, you've got free access to Blinkist/ Instaread for 7 days. Repeat this process again after 7 days, again and again, using other email id to sign up.

** Sometime it says INVALID CARD NUMBER, then use any different BIN, go to Namsogen to create card, try subscribing again.

iii) HEADWAY -

Headway has been my favorite app in this category since months but now it has changed some of its features and for now, it doesn't even offer free trial to users.
So, just let it go.

INFOTAINMENT

For Infotainment, you can use Youtube for free of cost. To get the best in this class, you'll have to switch to Curiosity stream, its an amazing site where you'll get everything you want.
Unfortunately, Curiosity stream doesn't offer any free trial, but you can use it for free with some tricks. If you want a free Curiosity stream id then drop a comment in the comment section or contact me.
I'm not going to write down the trick here because it will take an hour for me to explain the whole thing.

LEARN NEW COURSES

You're so lucky to have this long and long enough lockdown period to learn something new. Its 2020, the era of internet has turned the complexity of the world into as simple as possible. You can learn anything you want just by searching it on google and investing some of your precious time to do precious things.
You can learn new courses free of cost from most of the MOOC websites that provide a wide variety of courses to choose from.

i) edX -

edX is the best MOOC (MASSIVE OPEN ONLINE COURSES) and my favorite for all time of course.
You just enroll a course you like and start learning for free. It costs only for certificates that you don't need to buy.

ii) Coursera -

Coursera is my second best option in this category that also provides a wide range of courses from beginner to expert level. It's also free to enroll and learn; costs only for certificates.
But not all courses in Coursera are free, some are paid courses. Whereas in edX, you'll get all courses free to enroll.

iii) Khan Academy -

Khan academy is another competitor in this category and my favorite as it doesn't cost you a single penny and has a very high quality of online courses.

ClassesCentral is a website from where you can compare courses of different MOOC and you can find the best courses easily.

Go to Classes Central

*** Some other ways you can improve yourself by learning -

  • Learn a new language using Duolingo, Memrise and lots of apps available in Play Store that offers to learn languages free of cost.
  • Reinvent your old dreams that you'd left in the pathway doing another thing. As I'd interest in learning computer science but currently no way I can learn it from my own courses. So I'll try to learn these things using edX or Coursera. Its just an example, you can reinvent your old dreams too in this time.
  • If you're really good at something like singing, sports or any other extra curricular then its your opportunity to boost that activity to peak level in this time. You can try dieting, fitness, workout, and lot of other stuffs too.

Thats the end of this blog. Hope it will be helpful.
